Massimo Ranieri was born as Giovanni Calone on May 3, 1951, in Naples, a poor and crowded city in southern Italy. He was the fourth of eight sons of a humble family that lived in the Santa Lucia district. He showed his talent for singing since he was a child, and he started to perform at restaurants, weddings, and other events when he was only 10 years old. He was discovered by a music producer who took him to New York to record an EP under the name of Gianni Rock, but his voice was changing and the record was not successful.

He returned to Italy and changed his stage name to Massimo Ranieri, inspired by the actor Maurice Ronet. He made his TV debut in 1966 with the song \"Bene Mio\", and soon became a teen idol with hits such as \"Rose Rosse\", \"Zingara\", \"Vent'anni\", and \"Se bruciasse la città\". He also participated in several editions of the Sanremo Music Festival, winning twice with \"Perdere l'amore\" in 1988 and \"Ti parlerà d'amore\" in 1996. He also represented Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest twice, with \"L'amore à un attimo\" in 1971 and \"Chi sarà con te\" in 1973.

Besides his singing career, Ranieri also pursued his passion for acting. He appeared in several movies and TV shows, working with directors such as Lina WertmÃller, Marco Bellocchio, Ettore Scola, and Giuseppe Tornatore. He also performed on stage in musicals and plays by authors such as Eduardo De Filippo, Luigi Pirandello, William Shakespeare, and Federico GarcÃa Lorca. He also directed some of his own shows, such as \"Canto perchà non so nuotare...da 40 anni\" and \"Sogno e son desto...Oggi à un altro giorno\".

Massimo Ranieri is one of the most popular and versatile Italian entertainers of all time. He has sold more than 14 million records and won numerous awards and honors for his artistic achievements. He is still active and touring, delighting his fans with his voice, charisma, and talent. e0e6b7cb5c
